OVERVIEW
The Company seeks experienced and savvy in-house counsel with both litigation and corporate governance experience to lead and grow the Company’s in-house legal department. A combination of firm and in-house experience is preferred, and the successful applicant will have familiarity with pharmaceutical industry operations including licensing and routine transactional matters. Company in-house counsel will interface with external counsel on transactional and litigation matters and will further ensure good corporate governance practices.
This is a full-time position with some telecommuting possible for the right candidate. Candidates must be located in Southern California and admitted to the California Bar; if you do not meet this requirement please do not apply. No recruiters, please.
DAY TO DAY DUTIES
Drafting and reviewing complex contracts and other legal documents in coordination with external counsel;
Provide legal support for Company operations, including acquisitions, partnerships, and joint ventures;
Working with senior management to define and protect Company goals and strategies;
Ensure proper record keeping to meet regulatory requirements;
Perform regular audits of Company documentation and practices to ensure proper compliance with regulatory bodies; and,
Represent the Company and executive management in a variety of cross-functional initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Juris Doctorate from a ranked, accredited, United States law school.
Minimum of 5-7 years of combined experience in a medium-to-large California law firm and/or comparable experience leading corporate legal departments.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with an impeccable level of attention to detail.
Ability to manage a high-volume internal and external work load, and ability to work collaboratively.
The desire to learn and evidence of active continuing education.
3+ years of transactional experience required.
3+ years of litigation experience preferred.
Experience in general securities and corporate governance law highly favorable.
Experience with regulatory and administrative bodies including FDA highly favorable.
