A fully online law school, established in 1998 and accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California, is part of a well-regarded public university system. Adjunct Professors of Law at this institution are responsible for teaching law courses and play an essential role in advancing the mission and academic goals of the law school and university. This particular adjunct role focuses primarily on teaching legal writing, though it may involve additional subject areas as needed. Purdue Global Law School Adjunct Professor of Law, Legal Writing Location: Remote / Online Job type: Adjunct / Part-Time / Contract Key Responsibilities: Conduct weekly online seminars, typically held in the evening (Eastern Time), Monday through Thursday. Respond to student inquiries via email and phone in a timely and professional manner, following institutional policies. Provide academic mentoring and advising through phone or video conferences, as needed. Grade assignments, mid-terms, and final exams promptly, offering individualized, actionable feedback aligned with expectations and bar exam standards. Contribute to curriculum updates and development, and engage in ongoing applied scholarship activities related to law and legal education. Prepare high-quality final examinations and model answers for inclusion in a central essay pool, even though courses are pre-designed. Participate in regular training and peer evaluations aimed at improving teaching effectiveness. Attend faculty meetings regularly (online or occasionally in person) and review recordings or minutes if unable to attend. Comply with institutional policies and procedures. Report a minimum of eight (8) hours of annual professional development and/or continuing legal education (CLE). Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution. One to two years of relevant legal experience or teaching/training experience. Preference for candidates with experience teaching legal writing. Must be in good standing (active or inactive) in all jurisdictions where admitted to practice, with no record of suspension or disbarment. Access to reliable technology, including a computer and high-speed internet, that meets institutional requirements. Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel) and internet tools (e.g., browsers, video conferencing platforms, and shared document editing like Google Docs). Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to effectively teach and mentor a diverse student population. Adaptability, initiative, and a high level of professionalism. Capacity to work independently while contributing to a collegial and respectful academic environment. Preferred Qualifications: Academic or practical experience in the subject matter being taught. Prior law school teaching experience, particularly using online learning technologies. Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, tools in the Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Calendar, etc.). 78834 |
